More About Kim Vopni

When pregnant with her first child, Kim Vopni learned about a pelvic floor wellness product from her midwives called the EPI-NO. After some internet research she learned how the unit would assist with strengthening the pelvic floor muscles and stretch the perineum prior to childbirth to reduce the likelihood of tearing and postpartum incontinence. Having a background in fitness, the idea of stretching and strengthening in preparation for a physical event made perfect sense.

Her first son was born in 2004 weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces, measuring 53 cm long and with a head circumference of 35.5 cm. He crowned sideways which is the widest way possible and her midwives and the attending nurse were amazed to find no tearing or abrasions whatsoever. While she also credits her amazing midwives, Kim believes her use of the EPI-NO contributed to her perineum remaining intact. As a result of her positive experience, she felt compelled to share her story and has now built a successful women’s wellness company that specializes in prenatal and postpartum moms. Kim is proud to be a monthly contributor to The Globe and Mail's Health Advisor column.

Kim holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Fitness from Simon Fraser University. Kim is a Certified Personal Trainer, a Certified Pre/Post Natal Fitness Consultant, a Certified Fitness For Fertility Specialist, a Certified Pfilates Instructor and is trained in the Hypopresive Method. She is also a Trained Post Partum Doula which has many clients referring to her as The Fitness Doula.
